Each role on the board is crafted to advance the Arizona Evaluation Network's mission. Below, you will find a list of board positions with descriptions of the responsibilities and the expected time commitment for each. Alongside fulfilling the specific duties of their role, all board members are expected to participate in monthly one-hour board meetings to collaboratively navigate our course.
Before diving into the details, here are some important points to consider:
Membership: While you don't need to be a member to be nominated for a board position, you will need to maintain active AZENet membership throughout your tenure.
Officer Positions: Officers are required to be appointed by the Arizona Evaluation Network membership and are responsible for the oversight of the organization's management.
Director Positions: Directors may be appointed by the current Board of Directors, though it is preferred they be appointed by the Arizona Evaluation Network membership. Directors are responsible for managing specific portfolios of work that advance the organization's mission. These positions usually share responsibilities with a co-chair elected on alternating cycles so that incoming chairs are trained and supported over the first year by the outgoing chair.

Officer Positions
Term: Three years
Number of positions: Three – Incoming President, President, and Immediate Past President. After the first year, the Incoming President transitions into the President role, and after the second year the President transitions into the Immediate Past President role.
Primary Responsibilities of the Incoming President:
• Attend monthly board meetings
• Lead the annual Board of Directors nomination and election process
• Support the advancement of annual organizational priorities
Primary Responsibilities of the President:
• Lead the efforts to develop the annual strategy for the organization
• Set organizational priorities and guide the development of an annual work plan
• Chair monthly meetings of the Board of Directors
• Represent the organization at AZENet events
Primary Responsibilities (Immediate Past President):
• Attend monthly board meetings
• Lead efforts to plan and execute an annual event focused on knowledge and skill development
• Support the advancement of annual organizational priorities
Estimated commitment: 5 hrs/month
Term: Two years
Number of positions: One
Primary Responsibilities:
• Attend monthly board meetings
• Lead the processes to complete and submit federal tax and corporation requirements (i.e., 990-N and ACC Annual Report)
• Produce quarterly financial statements
• Produce an annual financial report
• Lead the process to develop an annual budget
Estimated commitment: 3-5 hrs/month
Term: Two years
Number of positions: One
Primary Responsibilities:
• Attend monthly board meetings
• Manage the scheduling and development of agendas for monthly board meetings
• Produce meeting minutes for monthly board meetings
• Maintain the organizational file management system
Estimated commitment: 3-5 hrs/month
Director Positions
Term: Two years

Primary Responsibilities:
• Attend monthly board meetings
• Execute a strategy to deliver regular virtual and in-person programming aimed at promoting relationship development and networking to members within the Flagstaff area
• Attend events and process expenses
Estimated commitment: 3 hrs/month
Term: Two years

Primary Responsibilities:
• Attend monthly board meetings
• Execute a strategy to deliver regular virtual and in-person programming aimed at promoting relationship development and networking to members within the Phoenix area
• Attend events and process expenses

• Manage all mass email communication efforts

• Lead the efforts to collect member input and feedback through an annual member survey

• Execute a strategy to deliver regular virtual programming aimed at promoting professional development to members statewide
• Collaborate with other chairs to ensure regular statewide programming is promoted and communicated effectively

Nomination Process
Each year, we kick off our call for board nominations, marking an exciting new chapter in our organization's leadership. This process concludes with a virtual election, where all active members are encouraged to cast their votes and help shape the future of the Arizona Evaluation Network.
